Ken Grauer and Cathy Duncan, right, practice dancing the tango during a special workshop Saturday afternoon at Tango y Té. Visiting guest Mimi Santapa, a professional tango dancer and teacher from Buenos Aires, Argentina, taught the class, demonstrating techniques for dancing the Argentine Tango. Santapa is the go-to person for Buenos Aires’ show dancers and travels part-time to teach devoted students all over the world.

4th of July Celebration
Friday, July 4th
I traveled to the nearby small city of Alachua for the ninth annual July 4th Celebration featuring the "largest small town fireworks display in America." Somewhere around 15,000 or so people flocked to this special event, which also featured several vendors, a bunch of fun activities for kids, a BBQ rib eating contest and live musical entertainment. Here are some photos from the pre-fireworks show celebration. (I'll do a separate post with just fireworks shots.)

Water Polo Tournament
Sunday, June 29
This was my first time covering water polo, which was exciting :) The Gators Water Polo team played the Patriots from Longwood in the final day of the water polo tournament, hosted by the inaugural Central Florida Water Polo League. They were two of several water polo teams from around Central Florida that came to compete for the title of Champion of Central Florida 2008.

HAMming It Up
Saturday, June 29
Members of the Gainesville Amateur Radio Society answered HAM radio calls 2pm Saturday through 2pm Sunday during Field Day, a national emergency communications competition held to see which team could make the most contact with other operators across the United States and around the world in a 24-hour period. The competition was also a test to simulate what would happen in an emergency situation.
